The Get Lit(erate). Backstory

July 4, 2023 in Get Lit(erate) Podcast
I always love a good literate backstory: how an author decided to write, the way a book came to life, why a writer shares specific stories on the page.  Knowing the backstory, connecting to the backstory and truly understanding ‘all the things’ connects me to authors and books in new ways....

Thinking about joining my 5-week series to help he Thinking about joining my 5-week series to help heal from chronic pain? We begin THIS Thursday and would love to see you there!

Intense expressive journaling has been a game-changer for me.

It has lessened my chronic pain more than anything I’ve tried and let me tell you, I've tried a lot.

That’s why I am compelled to share my journey with others and become trained in a specific form of expressive writing. As part of that training, I’m offering a 5-week healing writing circle and invite you to join.

Each week, you’ll get a small dose of science to change your beliefs about how chronic pain works, an invitation to journal and release pent up emotion related physical pain and a short gently yoga practice to move the stress from your body. You’ll also get additional resources such as book lists, meditations and positive affirmations for the journey ahead.

The 5-week session is only $50 and space is limited to 12 people for a small group community experience. We’ll meet on Thursdays at 10am EST starting on June 19 and sessions will be recorded for those that cannot attend live. You’ll also have an opportunity to meet with me 1:1, if you’d like. This could be exactly what you need to finally break the chronic pain cycle.

Message me for the link!

Books make Mondays better! First, @theresahajos r Books make Mondays better!

First, @theresahajos recommended this book to @bost.rander (my Dad) and then he recommended it to me and I cannot wait to start reading this today.

Here's the short overview:

Remarkably Bright Creatures: an exploration of friendship, reckoning, and hope, tracing a widow's unlikely connection with a giant Pacific octopus.

I adored The Benefits of Being an Octopus by @annbradenbooks for the symbolism of the octopus (and MUCH more) and know I'm going to love this book too, especially when it's been passed along with such high praise.
