Books make Mondays better! This week, I’m startin Books make Mondays better!

This week, I’m starting YESTERYEAR by Caro Claire Burke.

I was intrigued from the first moment I spotted it in my beloved BookPage magazine from my local library a few months ago and after hearing all the bookish buzz online, I am finally picking it up for myself.

Here’s the publisher’s blurb:

A traditional American woman, a “tradwife” influencer, suddenly awakens in the brutal reality of 1855—where she must unravel whether this living nightmare is an elaborate hoax, a twisted reality show, or something far more sinister in this sensational debut novel.

I won’t reveal what it is yet, but it fits my new one-word theme for July and I cannot wait to get started.

This instant-classic, middle grade coming-of-age novel is filled with friendship, identity and the magic of bookstores. Say no more and add to cart, right?! Plus, the format is incredibly appealing: text message threads, comic panels and sketches and even a few spells and herbal concoctions for when you need them most.

Come listen as we talk about the upper middle grade niche that this book speaks to, the varied themes, realities and formats that make the book so inviting and appealing and the role that this book could play in sparking a love of reading (and more reading!) for all that read it. You won’t want to miss this one!
