How was your literate life this week? As always, I’m here in your Inbox to celebrate our literate lives with a sneak peek into my own. Here’s what I’ve been reading, writing, learning and exploring this week:

What I’m Reading:

This week, I was fortunate enough to get my hands on an advanced reader edition of Halfway to Harmony by Barbara O’Connor. I love all of her books, especially Wish, so I could not wait to get started. And this book did not disappoint. I entered the world of Walter and Posey, a world seemingly so long ago yet filled with the same complexities of life today. Touching upon the themes of family, loss, friendship and adventure, I felt all the feelings of the characters throughout each page. And while the ending may have been a bit predictable, it was filled with a surge of confidence, friendship and most of all, hope.

What I’m Writing:

This week, it’s all about blogging. I’m writing my own posts for The Coaching Sketchnote Book, I’m getting ready to share a post on using Google Jamboard in literacy coaching and I’m drafting an article for Choice Literacy, too. Whew! How do you keep track of all the blogs you love? I use Bloglovin’! It curates all my favorites together and sends me a daily email with all the new posts to browse. Gone are the days of remembering to check your favorites…they come to you instead. Let me know if you’d like a tutorial of how to get started!

What I’m Learning:

I’ve decided I need a hobby. A hobby that doesn’t involve work and taps into my more creative side. After listening to a few of Amy Tangerine’s Craft a Life You Love podcast episodes, I knew exactly what I would try: hand lettering. I had no idea that my endless writing and doodling in my journal was actually a creative pursuit that I could truly embrace and learn about. But now that I have, let me tell you, it’s setting my heart on fire! I’m exploring the psychology of fonts, the art of lettering and am filling my notebook with some pretty cool creations. I feel the same way I did as a third grader learning cursive: totally enamored! And my TBR stack is going as a result. Up next? Happy Hand Lettering!

What I’m Exploring:

There are two sites that I have spent FAR too much time exploring this week! =)

The first is an AMAZING collection of book inserts designed to literally invite you into the world of books. I am on the hunt for someone to make me my very own, so if you know of anyone, please send them my way!

The second site is a book-lovers dream….a site with book-themed notebooks, bags and pencil pouches. I’ve already got an order in for the library pocket pencil pouch and have my eye on the coffee mug, too!

There you have it! I hope this inspires you to make space for more reading and writing in your own life. What are the highlights from your literate life this week?
